Apostle Fred Wolf visits Myanmar
Ever since the retirement of Ap. David Thang, the Apostle Fred Wolf from Thailand cares for our Brothers and Sisters in Myanmar. He is assisted by the Bh. Samuel Tansahtikno from Jakarta/Indonesia.
Myanmar is opening up in many ways and today a favorite destination for Tourism and Business. Until recently areas like Chin State could not be visited by foreigners and even local Brothers faced challenging situations. The joy is great that despite such restrictions the congregations remained faithful and active over all the years.
The Apostle and the Bishop visited Myanmar from 4th to 16th February and conducted a divine service in Yangon and then flew to Kalemyo for another Divine Service. 7 Children and 2 adult were sealed.
The trip continued to Chin State where the Duo conducted 4 Divine Service but had to endure cold temperature at an altitude of about 1000 m above sea level. Chin State belongs to the poorest regions of Myanmar. Rudimentary infrastructures make life difficult. During rainy season congregations can be reached on foot or riding a horse only. Many souls waited with warm hearts and joyful spirit full of hope and offered a hearty welcome to our Brothers.
Over 400 souls were reached and served which under the difficult circumstance is quite an accomplishment for which the Apostle and Bishop were thankful.
The future of Myanmar is uncertain, some economic growth is expected however young people become mobile, move away with uncertain destination and besides civil unrest is still in many parts a threat. We pray that the protective hand of God rests upon our Brethren but also the Christian minorities in this beautiful country.
